Joanna Morgan skirt, made in New Zealand, in a soft blush pink satin jacquard with an oversized tonal rose pattern woven directly into the fabric. This is one of those pieces where the fabric does most of the work. The floral design is not printed, instead, large roses and leaves are created through variations in the satin weave, producing a subtle contrast between matte and lustrous areas. The pattern shifts with the light and gives the skirt a far richer appearance than a plain satin finish. The silhouette is long, fluid and softly flared, falling cleanly from a narrow elasticated waist before opening into a dramatic asymmetric hem. The longer pointed side sections create a graceful handkerchief effect and give the skirt beautiful movement when walking. Despite the romantic fabric, the construction itself is quite minimal, which keeps it from feeling overly formal or costume-like. The blush pink color is soft rather than sugary, closer to dusty rose or antique pink, and works particularly well with the late-1990s / early-2000s mood of the piece. Combined with the satin jacquard and elongated asymmetric shape, it has a distinctly Y2K romantic feel, somewhere between lingerie dressing, soft eveningwear and understated glamour. The waistband is elasticated, making it simple and comfortable to wear without disrupting the smooth line of the skirt. There is no heavy waistband, zip or hardware. For styling, keep the upper half deliberately simple. A fitted black or charcoal knit, slim black tee or fine merino top would make the pink satin feel much more contemporary, particularly with pointed boots or loafers. For a more romantic Y2K look, pair it with a cream camisole, delicate cardigan and kitten heels. It would also work beautifully with an oversized leather jacket to counterbalance the femininity of the rose jacquard. Please compare the measurements provided below with your own measurements, as sizing may vary between manufacturers. Tag size: No tag. Would fit an NZ8. Has a reasonable amount of stretch, the lining stretches well, the waistband also has good stretch. Actual flat measurements: Waist - 28, stretches comfortably up to 36 Hips - 48 Hem - 70 Total length – 67–81 General condition of the item: very good. The color is even and rich. The jacquard has a nice sheen, and the floral pattern is crisp. There are no stains, holes, or pulls. The elasticated waistband is intact and the skirt drapes well. It is fully lined and, importantly, it does not accentuate figure imperfections, but rather conceals them. Imperfections: The tag indicating size and fabric composition is missing. Based on the feel, it appears to be polyester or a viscose-polyester blend. No problems with this skirt overall. Overall condition (1–10): 8
