nOir NYC for L.A.M.B. statement necklace, from the fashion label founded by Gwen Stefani. nOir designer Leeora Catalan collaborated with Gwen Stefani on a full jewellery collection for L.A.M.B. in 2012. The collection combined L.A.M.B.’s punk/Indian influences with nOir’s elaborate statement-jewellery aesthetic. This is a very cool, architectural piece featuring a full row of articulated three-dimensional faceted pyramid/spike links in a rich gold tone with a sculptural, edgy Y2k aesthetic. The oval tag on the clasp is stamped “nOir” with L.A.M.B. branding on the reverse. Great piece for adding an unexpected designer edge to a simple black dress, crisp white shirt or leather jacket and jeans for that rock chick coded vibe. nOir was founded in New York in 1995 by jewellery designer Leeora Catalan, who had previously worked with Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta. Her designs became known for being glamorous, eccentric, playful and quite edgy rather than conventional fine jewellery. The brand became particularly well known in the 2000s and early 2010s, with a substantial celebrity following. Pieces were worn by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez, among others. nOir pieces are very collectible because of their distinctive designs and the celebrity/fashion history behind the label. nOir was also acquired by International Inspirations/Lux Accessories in 2014, with Catalan remaining as creative director.
