Claude Montana Wool Coat with Zip Back from Fall 1998 By 1980, Claude Montana was known both as an enfant terrible and for his almost monastic adherence to the principles of apparel design. His fashion shows were events that people fought to get into, and the crowds who got in would be riled up into a near frenzy. But by the turn of the century, Montana became a ghost, a recluse so rarely seen in public that he came to be known as the “Phantom of the Palais-Royal.” This incredible coat showcases his brilliant tailoring abilities in combination with street-style details that began to appear in the late 90s. It is crafted from a heavy stretch wool fabric and fully lined. It features zip pockets on the chest and a matching zip on the back, allowing you to decide how high the slit can be. A similar version was seen on the runway in lilac with a shorter length and more dramatic collar. Tagged Size 40 Styled here with the 1980s Wool Jacquard Pleated Skirt by Gianni Versace.
