My name is Robin and I'm a wood- and metal-worker with a passion for upcycling discarded objects and recycling them into furniture, in particular preventing objects from going into landfill. I love to mix things up to make unique bespoke furniture in the hope that it gets a second wind. This is a one-off piece, the design inspired by found materials. I made the tabletop from recycled pallets which I hand-planed on my back deck, then matched it with a pair of contemporary steel legs. The dappled-aged texture of the legs paired with the Scandi top make a really interesting contrast. The screws are all reused along with some oversize nuts and bolts for effect. Under the legs there are rubber feet, so it can be moved without marking the floor. There are two notches at the rear of the table, which work really well as cable tidies for a laptop, lights and so on. In total it took me about five weeks working on-and-off. It's strong, sturdy and very solid, the dimensions are: 720mm high, 1800mm wide by 600mm deep. If you're looking for a one-off, handmade desk that's socially-conscious and durable, this is the piece. You're welcome to visit my studio to look at it. It's in Panmure, please ask in the comments to arrange a viewing time. I'm moving workshop so have reduced the price for a quick sale. Delivery is $50 within Auckland, please contact me if you would like delivery elsewhere.
