My name is Robin and I'm a wood- and metal-worker with a passion for upcycling discarded objects and recycling them into furniture, in particular preventing objects from going into landfill. I love to mix things up to make unique bespoke furniture in the hope that it gets a second wind. This is a restored chair, rescued from the local recycling centre. It's similar to those at The Federal Street diner in Auckland; I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted it, waiting for someone to restore it. The frame and seat are very solid, steel and plywood and incredibly comfortable to sit on. I fixed up a few missing parts, re-varnished and reassembled it. Since I first listed it, I've added four castor wheels; it's now a little higher and is comfortable for me to sit at (I'm six feet one/185cm tall). Check the last photo to see. The seat is 540mm above ground level. In total it took me about two weeks working on-and-off to restore. If you're looking for a simple, super stylish chair with an industrial aesthetic, look no further. You're welcome to visit my studio to look at it. It's in Panmure, please ask in the comments to arrange a viewing time. Shipping price is $20, within Auckland only. Contact me if you live elsewhere
