An amazing and highly stylized 1950's cocktail dress by the famous American designer Peggy Hunt. Peggy Hunt is best known as the brilliant creator of what came to be called "The Illusion Neckline"- the masterful use of marquisette lace combined with appliqueÌ layered over nude fabric to create a rather seductive effect. Her garments were often worn by Hollywood starlets. About this dress: Wonderfully constructed in linen with floral appliques on the shelf bust line and accented with a nice sheer fabric. It has a metal back zipper that is in perfect working order and also has hook and eye closer on the back of the sheer fabric. The colour is beige/light brown/camel, as shown on the last pictures. Excellent vintage condition and very wearable. I wore it only once at a my sister's wedding in France, and don't have other opportunity to wear it. You do not easily find this level of workmanship on garments today and this beauty is a timeless classic for any modern event!
